Get Them Out

Time is short. We must protect our Afghan allies and our national honor now.

Contact the President, Secretary of State Rubio, and DHS Secretary Noem, and urge your friends, especially veterans and Republicans who value loyalty and national honor, to make calls. We must not abandon Afghan allies who stood shoulder to shoulder with our troops for 20 years.

Help keep the momentum going. Tell them:

  • I believe that we have a moral obligation to bring the Afghan refugees who helped our military to the
US. The reputation of the US depends on our doing the right thing.
  • Bringing Afghan refugees into the US presents no burden on Americans; rather they become hard-working self-sufficient taxpayers and enrich our communities.

The Time to Act is RIGHT NOW.

March 9, 2025 Update: Thank you to all the volunteers, supporting organizations, and congregations for your efforts to support the GET THEM OUT campaign, calling for the White House to lift its January 20  “pause” on resettlement of vetted Afghan refugees, including specific cases for 15  individuals who were vetted and ready to come to Westchester with established community sponsor groups like Open Arms.

Your post cards and calls have made a difference, showing a broad and bipartisan consensus of Americans that know that America must live up to its moral obligation to the Afghan allies who stood “shoulder to shoulder” with our troops in a 20 year war.

Congressman Lawler and Congressman Latimer are standing with us and with those who helped American soldiers. We cannot abandon these allies, leaving them in peril of persecution, torture and death. America is better than that.

Whether in writing or by phone, please thank your congressman for leading on this issue, and especially tell Secretary of State Rubio, Secretary of Homeland Security Noem, and President Trump that the betrayal of these loyal allies must not occur on their watch, and that, after three and a half years, is it time to save our Afghan allies and our national honor.

February 2025 Update: A recent Executive Order suspended the arrival in Westchester of 15 vetted and approved Afghan refugees. These are our allies we left behind. This demands our response and action.

Under the Order, the executive branch can conduct a ‘case-by-case’ review. We’ve asked our local congressmen, Republican Mike Lawler and Democrat George Latimer, to:

“Please press the President to urgently remedy the Executive Orders for all vetted refugees… and insist on expedited ‘case-by-case’ reviews for the 15 identified Afghans already approved to resettle in Westchester. Get them out.”

Open Arms created a postcard and email campaign that will easily deliver that same straightforward but compelling message.

We now ask you to join this effort.
